Self
This work marks the start of my postgraduate practice, born from mapping my own history. I used to think my interest in media archaeology came from a fixation on investigation and gossip. However, looking backward revealed a deeper family root: my grandmother was a black-and-white photo colourist.
By connecting her hands-on manipulation of photos with my own urge to investigate, I explore how we dissect the past self. In the final piece, I use Moiré patterns to show how every look at the past alters our memory depending on our perspective.
Moving forward, I intend to use this technique to continue exploring the nature of memory.
